How much do tutors make at tutoring companies like Sylvan Learning?

How easy is it to get a job? What credentials must you have?

I was offered a job by Kaplan; I can’t remember the pay rate, but I did have to submit test scores (I had very high SAT and ACT scores). I also submitted by college transcript (I had a high GPA).

Then, they brought a number of us into a room and had us “teach” anything we want using a blackboard for like five minutes; they were obviously testing our teaching skills. It was quite nervewrecking, even though at the time I was a student teacher!
