Becoming a personal tutor?
I live in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, and am a personal tutor. I do this on a part time basis in order to boost my income, as well as holding a ‘main’ job. I teach mathematics up to GCSE level to students. The problem is that I have advertised in local newpapers etc, but I have not had much of a response, and I thought mathematics was a subject that was in demand! I only have 3 students on my books and at the moment I seem to be spending more on advertising than getting paid from this tution!
Has anybody got any ideas as to how to increase the number of students on my books? Can I advertise my tuition services in local primary/secondary schools, or is there a law banning this type of advertising?

I think it is case of do parents have the money to pay for private tuition of the thier off spring.
Don´t forget Tony´s Education reforms where the standard of teaching is now so high in UK schools that there is no need for extra curriculum teaching.
But hey no harm in phoining up schools and asking, the problem is , it will be the pupils who read your adverts, and I don´t think they will be rushing home to mater and pater, and saying, “Gosh mummy look, Maths tuition, If I´m a good boy can I go ?
