Who shall i list as my personal references on an application form?
Im applying for a job in the Royal Fleet Auxiliary and have just recieved my application form. In the personal references section it says this “You must supply 2 references who have known you for at least 3 years and must NOT be current or recent employers, any tutor or teacher, nor in any way related to you”.
I find this quite strange as the only people i can think of that meet these criteria are my drinking buddies! Surely they dont want me to put them as references!
If any one knows what kind of thing they are after some pointers would be greatly appreciated.

P.S I do not have a doctor/policeman etc who has known me for 3 years.
Personal references are exactly that… references who know you personally. This can be coworkers, friends, neighbors, or anyone you may know through social circles, volunteer work, professional or hobby organizations, etc. If you must choose drinking buddies, be sure to pick the ones that will speak intelligently and highly of you (and not discuss how you’re always the last man standing at last call
